Global Protest against militarization of the South China Sea

Misinformation alert. The Scarborough Shoal Ownership Claim by the Philippines is Bogus and not worth the current level of grief possibly leading to war.

  • A July 2016 UNCLOS Tribunal ruling DID NOT rule that Scarborough Shoal belongs to the Philippines. It ruled that the Scarborough shoal is a rock, entitled only to a 12-nautical-mile territorial sea and not a candidate for ownership by any nation.
  • It could not rule on sovereignty over the shoal but found that China violated the traditional fishing rights of Filipinos by not allowing them to fish there.
  • Interestingly, the tribunal stated that it would have found the same regarding Chinese fishermen if they were prevented access to the shoal by the Philippines.
  • The Actual Decision

The court ruled on the legal status of every feature raised by the Philippines in the Spratly Islands.

None of the Spratlys, including the largest natural features, are legally islands because they cannot sustain a stable human community or independent economic life therefore not a candidate for ownership by any nation.

As such, they are entitled only to territorial seas, not EEZs or continental shelves.

Of the seven Spratlys occupied by China: Johnson Reef, Cuarteron Reef, and Fiery Cross Reef are rocks. Hughes Reef and Mischief Reef are below water at high tide and generate no maritime entitlements meaning not a candidate for ownership by any nation. The court disagreed with the Philippines on Gaven Reef and Kennan Reef.

In summary, the tribunal did not award sovereign rights to the Philippines over Scarborough Shoal.

Global Women’s Group is angry at China for cutting the supply of small fish to inland children of the Philippines, half of which group is showing signs of malnutrition due to the lack of protein that was heretofore availed from the small-fish catch of maritime fishing communities. Traditionally, this catch has been a critical part of children’s diet in the Philippines.

“This is a very serious matter that needs to be addressed by the Marcos government. Spending money on submarines, torpedoes and other weaponry is immature, foolish and irresponsible given that most of the country’s regions are below the poverty level and half the kids under five are showing signs of stunting. Money from the people should be going back to the people under these circumstances,” says public health nursing practitioner Karinna Angeles from Manila.

Stunting is defined as impaired growth and development experienced due to poor nutrition. Children who are stunted are too short for their age. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), childhood stunting is “one of the most significant impediments to human development, globally affecting approximately 162 million children under the age of 5 years. It is largely an irreversible outcome of inadequate nutrition and repeated bouts of infection during the first 1000 days of a child’s life.”  Children who are stunted do less well at school and earn lower wages as adults.

The editor of Feminine Perspective Magazine wasn’t mincing words reacting to China scolding the Philippines in early April 2023. Manila was hosting some 14,000 American combat forces for exercises. Feminine-Perspective was “China can suck it up. Beijing caused Philippines Balikatan drill”

“The closeness of a Sino-USA war has brought explosions and live rounds to the Philippines again from 11 to 28 April 2023, along with 13,000+ USA troops—in all more than 18,000 troops, mostly Americans. It is called “Balikatan 2023”, the 38th and largest of the Balikatan war games yet, doubling last year’s effort owing to war rumblings between the United States and China.”

On July 12, 2016, the ‘law of the sea’ arbitral tribunal adjudicating a Philippines’ 2013 case against China in the South Asian  Sea alleging China violated the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), ruled that major elements of China’s claim to the South Asian Sea—including its theoretical nine-dash line; recent militarization activities; and other malevolent activities in other nations’ coastal waters—were unlawful. China reacted bitterly to the Court ruling.

“Warnings have come from China and the Philippines including words stating the obvious from the former President of the Philippines, that the continued expansion of the USA military in the Philippines brings the island archipelago into the war as a target,” explains Sharon Santiago, a director of RINJ, the global women’s rights NGO which has its own media arm called RINJ Press.

“Don’t forget it was U.S. President Trump who endorsed the mass killings of some 35,000 men, women, boys and girls, in the Philippines, under the Duterte regime’s alleged drug war that also killed journalists, mayors and other political opponents. While this is now under investigation by the lollipop-suckers at the ineffective and pretentious International Criminal Court, American money has the ICC blaming all of America’s ill-deeds on America’s enemies,” she added in an acidic tone. “It’s all Putin’s fault.”

“They think we are all idiots in the Philippines. We make our own choices and we have decided.”

“The determination in the voices of the Philippines humanitarian workers is such that you know that the Philippines has picked a side in the dispute between America and China over Taiwan, and the Asian Seas,” said Melissa Hemingway, Associate Editor of Feminine-Perspective Magazine.

The Chinese vessels went back to Julian Felipe Reef in Philippines waters since 04 Apri 2022. It has been a bad year for Philippines Fisherfolk

“We [Philippines] cannot afford fighting with China.
We cannot win and we will lose and the population will suffer,” said Rodrigo Duterte on 12 June 2022, as outgoing President of the Philippines. But the tide may have turned.

“China brought this on. The militarization of the South China Sea is all on China. The conduct of China against Filipino Fisherfolk has been reprehensible. Sick. Disgusting,” wrote the FPMag editors in a landmark analysis piece on 11 April 2023 that slams down both sides of the story and concludes “China can suck it up…”

Repeatedly the Philippines foreign affairs department has “protested the return of over 100 Chinese vessels illegally operating in the waters in and around Julian Felipe Reef since 04 April 2022, barely a year after the same swarming incident was protested by the Philippine government.”

Global protest against polluting & militarizing the Asian Seas by China, America, European Union, Canada, Britain and Australia

Asian Seas in dispute Disputes in the Asian Seas involve both island and maritime claims within the region of the Asian Seas by several sovereign states, namely Japan, Brunei, the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
Entering into the fight are warships mainly from the United States, supported by warships from India, Australia, Canada, Britain, France, Germany, and the Philippines in a much smaller capacity.
Supporting the fight against China are an estimated 300 thousand troops  mostly from America and supported by Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
Additional nuclear warhead ballistic missiles were introduced into the region in 2019 by America according to then Secretary of Defense Mark Esper.
The AUKUS is an Asian Seas initiative, a nuclear submarine project to give to Australia, American and British nuclear technology. It will also facilitate sharing of information in a number of artificial intelligence, underwater warfare systems, and quantum, cyber-, and long-range strike capabilities. Australia’s Scott Morrison said Australia will also enhance its long-range strike capabilities through the purchase of Tomahawk cruise missiles and extended range Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles.Click image to enlarge. Ours and our Partners’ Global protest against polluting & militarizing the Asian Seas by China, followed by America, European Union, Canada, Britain and Australia

Following two successive global weekend conferences of the global team and its partners, (3-6 September 2021 and 17-20 September 2021) a decision was reached by the partners to add an addendum on stopping the nuclearization of the south China Sea by America and other nations, who exploit the Australian and UK taxpayers and cheating France out of a conventional boat building contract.

America has betrayed hundreds of millions of  South Asians with the escalation of the South China Seas military conflict and the nuclearization of the region in violation of the spirit of nuclear non-proliferation and the will of humankind.

America sneers at global values and human development by escalating a military conflict with China that never needed to happen. It’s all about building an excuse for continued priority of enriching the patriarchal American military industrial base. The world must stop this global misconduct immediately.

The South Asian population surrounding the Asian Seas is to be exposed to desperately dangerous peril not unlike the Children in Afghanistan America killed and the million civilians America exterminated in Iraq, according to a study by the Opinion Research Business (ORB).

America is provoking a far-shores nuclear war with China in order to stop China’s 1.4 billion people from benefitting from their own amazing achievements. It is time to take the gloves off and challenge this COVID19-spreading, arrogant, bigoted, racist, dangerous, betrayer of humanity.

Whatever is necessary to stop America and others provoking nuclear war with China must be done.

19th December 2024 — The Asian Seas belong to humanity and its partner species. Humanitarians are now saying that the Sea needs to be cleaned up. Renaming the China Seas to Asian Seas makes the point clear, the international waterways of the world need to be held by humanity in abidance to the “1982 United Nations Convention On The Law Of The Sea” and not controlled by any single state.

China and America have been dumping sewage into the South Asian Sea and China has polluted the sea by destroying the natural ecosystems with unorthodox militaristic ‘land‘ reclamations of nothing but coral and low tide rock, hence cleanup of the Asian Seas means demilitarization for ecological reasons; for human values; and to honour global goals for peace on Earth.

The solution to the crisis in the South Asian Sea is not the present military standoff with American, Australia, British, Japanese, South Korean, Philippines and NATO warships facing off against China’s military might with guns, bombs, missiles and nuclear hunter-killer submarines. Naval vessels with a peaceful purpose could protect users of the China Sea, but should not be jostling for nuclear military power against China. Militarization of the Asian China sea is wrongful and must end.

Women’s rights and family rights of the Asian people living around the South Asian Sea are human rights—for peaceful enjoyment of family, community, and the collective of peace-loving nations. Join us around the world at a time of your local group’s choosing.

Organize your own protest, large or small or join ours.

This is no cause for war. We implore China to fix its past hostilities against Asians, like sinking Vietnamese and Filipino fisher folks and their boas, and instead of alienation of the world, particularly the Asian people, unite Asia with love. Like, wake up, China. Are we going to stand together against American hegemony or do you want to be everyone’s enemy? Think over this.

Today superpowers’ piracy has an impact on millions of Asians and people all around the world because the waterways are crucial to global trade for a modest total estimate of $3.7 trillion USD in crucial goods, one third of the world’s trade.

Millions of Asians suffer food shortages during the pandemic because of China and America’s antipathy and warfare toward each other and the ensuing violent denial of coastal fisher people’s rights to take food from the sea because China and America exploit and abuse the nations surrounding the Asian Seas.

Hence we organized a global protest on the afternoon of 11 November 2021 (Beijing time, -8 GMT) in America, France, Australia, Britain. Seek our help if you wish to organize your own.
